"body": "## Context\n\nVarias operated on two fronts at once: a scale-up services business providing dedicated, autonomous teams to later-stage startups across the EU and US, and an in-house AI productivity tool built to make those teams — and their clients' teams — measurably more effective. Jan Hein joined as Chief Product Officer (January 2022 – January 2024, Rotterdam), responsible for both sides. The AI product line extended a thread running through Bots with an Attitude and Lefthoek: narrow, focused agents that take on the tedious work so people can do the work that matters.\n\n## Problem\n\nLater-stage startups hit a scaling wall: they need senior capacity fast, but hiring is slow and generic staff augmentation delivers hands without ownership. At the same time, the teams doing the work drown in routine coordination — status-chasing, repetitive questions, context that never becomes shared memory — which caps how much of a team's capacity actually reaches high-value work.\n\n## Solution\n\nTwo complementary offerings. On the services side, Varias fielded dedicated, autonomous teams for later-stage startups — not staff augmentation but teams that took ownership of outcomes, backed by explicit product strategy, team performance frameworks, and a repeatable scaling methodology. On the product side, Varias built an AI productivity tool that embeds \"virtual team members\" into human teams — automating routine tasks and redeploying human capacity toward higher-value work. The tool became one of Varias's core IP assets. As CPO, Jan Hein founded and built the product and led product across the wider services business.\n\n## Outcome\n\nThe AI productivity tool matured into core company IP, and the services business turned the \"autonomous, dedicated team\" model into a repeatable way to help later-stage startups scale faster. The dual approach — building the product that makes teams effective while running the teams themselves — directly informed the thinking behind Rizom: agents and humans as participants in the same system of work, not tools on one side and people on the other.",
